‘TN Congress will recreate history in LS Polls’
The Congress Secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu Sanjay S Dutt, addressed a Press Conference in Chennai on culmination of his 21 days State tour covering 35 Districts.
He said that there was an Anti-BJP, Anti-AIADMK wave sweeping Tamil Nadu and that INC Tamil Nadu was fully prepared and will recreate history of 2004 Lok Sabha polls, by winning with its allies all 39 Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha seats.
TN DVAC moves Supreme Court
The Madras High Court recently ordered the CBI to take up the investigation of alleged irregularities in the allocation of Highway contracts in the state, involving TN CM EPS.
Today the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order.
The DVAC had probed these allegations and had concluded that there were no irregularities in awarding Highway Contracts.
TN CM EPS said today that there were no irregularities and the High Court too had not pointed out any irregularities in allocation of contracts.
Madras High Court closes contempt case against H Raja
The Madras High Court today closed the contempt case against senior political leader H Raja.
The senior politician had got into a verbal duel with the policemen regarding denial of permission for a religious procession. In a Video of the incident that viral, Mr Raja was seen using objectionable language against the High Court.
The Madras High Court took suo motu cognisance of this and asked Mr Raja to appear before him.
Mr Raja presented himself before the High Court today. In his submission to the court he said he had become emotional in his discussions with the police and tendered an unconditional apology for his utterances. He also said that he realised about the mistake later after viewing the video.
The Court accepted his apology and closed the matter.

CBDT reports a growth of more than 80% in the number of returns filed
Central Board of Direct Taxes has released the following
There is a growth of more than 80% in the number of returns filed in the last four financial years from 3.79 crore in FY 2013-14 (base year) to 6.85 crore in FY 2017-18.
There is also an increase of 26% in the average tax paid by individual taxpayers from Rs.46,377/- in AY 2014-15 to Rs.58,576/- in AY 2017-18.
The average tax paid by corporate taxpayers has increased from Rs.32.28 lakh in AY 2014-15 to Rs.49.95 lakh in AY 2017-18 , growth of 55%.
For AY 2014-15, corresponding to FY 2013-14 (base year), the return filers had declared gross total income of Rs.26.92 lakh crore, which has increased by 67% to Rs.44.88 lakh crore for AY 2017-18, showing higher level of compliance.

Powerboat racing on Krishna waters
Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh to host UIM F1H2O World Championship from 16th-18th Nov. The boating champions race is being held on the waters of Krishna river.
