The last and one of the most important events during Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams where in thousands of pilgrims took part for taking bath in the Holy Swami Pushkarini , the Sudarshana Chakrasnana Mahotsavam, was performed with utmost religious fervour on Thursday.

The Ayudha Pursha, anthropomorphic form of Lord Venkateswara, was rendered the celestial snapanam to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy, Sridevi, Bhu Devi and Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar. The deities were seated on the banks of Swamy Pushkarini in the front yard of Sri Bhu Varahaswamy temple.

The celestial snapanam commenced at 6 am. The fete commenced with Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyahavachanam followed by Mukha Prakshalana. Later the snapanam was performed to the deities with milk, honey, coconut water, turmeric paste and sandal paste and the Vedic pundits recited Panchasuktas including Sri, Bhu, Neela, Purusha Suktams.

In the puranas, the Sudarshana Chakra was said to be made by the architect of gods, Vishwakarma. The Sudarshana Chakra is described to have 10 million spikes in two rows moving in opposite directions to give it a serrated edge. The Sudarshna Chakra is described as Prana, Maya, Kriya, Shakti, Bhava, Unmera, Udyama and Sankalpa. Sudarshana manifests in 5 main ways to wit the five Shaktis, which are creation, preservation, destruction, obstruction and obscuration.

It is observed as Upasamanotsavam for the deities, after a hectic eight-day and night Vahanam schedule during annual Brahmotsavams. The anthropomorphic form of Lord, Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar, will take a holy dip for three times in the sacred waters of Swamy Pushkarini to appease Him.

Sri Rama Chandra on Hanumantha Vahanam

On the sixth day morning on Monday, the Lord Malayappa Swamy in the guise of Venkatadri Sri Ramachandra Murthy took celestial ride on His humble and noble devotee Hanumantha Vahana on Monday.

Lord Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, complete surrender and absence of ego. His character tells us what we can do in our lives by becoming pure, humble and surrender outselves to the almighty (saranagati).

With regard to character, strength and ability, Hanuman was far superior to even humans. His surrender to the divine cause and his devotion to Lord Rama was unique, exemplary and unconditional. Even today devotees say that wherever the name of Lord Rama is chanted or mentioned, this sacred being would be present there listening to the chanting of his name and absorbed in his thoughts.

Malayappa mesmerises devotees as ‘Mohini’

On the pleasant morning of Sunday during the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams, Sri Malayappa Swamy as Mohini mesmerised the pilgrims with His unparalleled Beauty and Charm.

The role of Mohini is resplendent with the mythological lore of Samudra Mathanam where Sri Maha Vishnu takes Mohini avatar to share the divine nectar between gods (Devatas) and demons (Asuras) to balance cosmic battle for supremacy. However, the Gods had an upper hand in procuring nectar while he demons were caught in the Maya of Celestial Beauty, Mohini.

While Mohini in all Her resplendent is carried out on an ivory palanquin accompanied by Sri Krishna Swamy on another carrier.

Through this unique Avatar, Lord sends a message to His devotees that they should not fall prey to worldly desires and come out of ‘Maya’ of the luxuries of world.
