Govt issues a statement on the row with RBI

The autonomy for the Central Bank, within the framework of the RBI Act, is an essential and accepted governance requirement.

Governments in India have nurtured and respected this.

Both the Government and the Central Bank, in their functioning, have to be guided by public interest and the requirements of the Indian economy.

For the purpose, extensive consultations on several issues take place between the Government and the RBI from time to time.

This is equally true of all other regulators.

Government of India has never made public the subject matter of those consultations. Only the final decisions taken are communicated.

The Government, through these consultations, places its assessment on issues and suggests possible solutions.

The Government will continue to do so.

Refer Government’s statement on the ‘consultations’ with RBI. If it contained the truth alone, why was it necessary to issue the statement?

Obviously, the government has concealed something. The buzz is that government has recently written one or more letters to the RBI

P.Chidambaram on RBI developments

If, as reported, Government has invoked Section 7 of the RBI Act and issued unprecedented ‘directions’ to the RBI, I am afraid there will be more bad news today

We did not invoke Section 7 in 1991 or 1997 or 2008 or 2013. What is the need to invoke the provision now? It shows that government is hiding facts about the economy and is desperate :

CM KCR had promised one job per family. Did he deliver?, asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi at a public meeting in Telangana.

More than 1 lakh government posts are vacant in Telangana today. CM KCR has only filled 10,000 jobs in the last 5 years. Congress CM will work hard to provide employment, he said.

We will not only waive farm loans but also ensure that you get the right price for cotton and other agricultural produce.

Many people of this region work in Gulf countries and help build Telangana. CM KCR said he would allocate ₹5000 Cr for people of Telangana working in Gulf, but he failed to fulfill this promise. We will do it, the Congress President said.

Auto stand Name Plates along with Wall Paintings and Space for Pasting Posters witness intense competition among political parties. Every party seeks to have the maximum presence in these spaces.

Chennai and other major towns are dotted with auto stands in several street corners. It’s rare to find an auto stand name plate without a party affiliation.

Having auto drivers as party sympathisers helps word of mouth publicity with the auto drivers eulogising about their party leaders to their captive customers while travelling from one point to another.

In order not to be left behind in this space, the Makkal Needhi Maiam got its party stamp on an Auto stand Name Plate in Chennai.

The party’s Chennai Zonal in-charge Kameela Nasser and the party’s Workers Wing Co-ordinator  Bharathi Krishnakumar were present at the inauguration of the party’s first auto stand Name Plate at Adyar, Kasturibai Nagar, 1st cross street in Chennai today.
