PM dedicates 5 DRDO Young Scientists Laboratories to the Nation

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation 5 Young Scientists Laboratories of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in Bengaluru today.
  • DRDO Young Scientist Laboratories (DYSLs) are located in five cities viz, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
  • Each lab will work on a key advanced technology of importance to the development of futuristic defence systems viz, Artificial intelligence, Quantum technologies, Cognitive technologies, Asymmetric technologies and Smart materials.
  • The inspiration to start such laboratories came from the Prime Minister on the occasion of DRDO award function held on August 24, 2014.
  • Shri Narendra Modi had then asked DRDO to empower the youth, by giving them decision making powers and challenging research opportunities.

PM Modi:

  • I’m happy that serious work has been done to start 5 labs that will work on advanced technologies.
  • Today, such labs are being started in Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai & Mumbai.
  • I’m sure that these labs will promote the thoughts & behavior of young scientists

14 scientists awarded Swarna Jayanti Fellowships

  • 14 scientists awarded Swarna Jayanti Fellowships for 2018-19.
  • This will cover all the requirements for performing the research and include a fellowship of Rs 25,000/- per month as well as a research grant of 5 lakh Rupees for 5 years in addition to their salary.

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat holds first meeting with Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff 


  • Soon after assuming charge as Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat held a meeting with important functionaries of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (Hq IDS) on January 1, 2020.
  • Wishing them all a Happy New Year, General Rawat directed various branch heads to come up with recommendations for inter-service synergy and jointness in a time bound manner.
  • The CDS also directed that a proposal to create Air Defence Command be prepared by June 30, 2020.
  • He also set out priorities for execution of synergy by June 30 and December, 31 2020.
  • Some of the areas identified for jointness and synergy include creation of common logistics support pools in stations where two or more services have their presence.
  • Emphasising collegiate system of functioning, General Rawat directed that all three services and Coast Guard must be consulted and their views obtained in a time bound manner.
  • Decisions will, however, be taken to ensure optimisation of resources.
  • Efforts will be made to cut out infructuous ceremonial activities, which are manpower intensive.
  • The CDS stressed that all must work towards accomplishing desired results and comingup with healthy views and ideas.

For the first time in India free Wi-Fi facility on moving Metro Trains launched by Delhi Metro

  • Travelling on board a train from New Delhi to Dwarka Sec-21 and back, DMRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Mangu Singh launched the ‘Free High Speed Wi-Fi’ facility for passengers travelling on the Airport Express Line.
  • Passengers will be able to access high speed free Wi-Fi by simply logging onto the network with the name “METROWIFI_FREE”.
  • Just enter your phone number if asked, and get your OTP to enjoy high-speed internet access throughout your journey.
  • This is for the first time in India that the free Wi-Fi facility on moving Metro Trains has been launched.
  • Delhi Metro currently provides Wi-Fi facility at many of its major stations, including those on yellow and blue lines.

‘All 52000 plus APRTC employees have been absorbed into the Government’

  • A long pending demand has been fulfilled by our CM YS Jagan – merger of APRTC into Andhra Pradesh Government, a promise he made during Padayatra.
  • All 52000 plus APRTC employees have been absorbed into the Government.
  • A new ‘Public transport Department’ has also been set-up.
  • Though there would be extra burden on the state exchequer by this move, we are committed to deliver more, and our priority is to serve the people of AP to the best of our abilities.
