Tirumala Annual Brahmotsavam kick starts with Pedda Sesha Vahanam

Tirumala, 30 Sep. 19 – Day 1, Evening

  • On the first day evening of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala,  Sri Malayappa Swamy took a celestial ride on Pedda Sesha Vahanam on Monday evening.
  • The first vahana seva of the 16 celestial carrier processions of Brahmotsavam-2019, the Serpent Carrier Seva commenced amidst a grand fanfare of hundreds of artisans from all over the country presenting bhajans, kolatas while folk dancers presenting mythological themes to enthrall the devotees who thronged the four Mada streets.
  • The utsava idols of Malayappa Swamy flanked on either side by His two divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi mounted atop the golden Pedda Sesha Vahanam blessed devotees.
  • The Pedda shesha vahanam is symbolic with Dhyana Bhakti. The darshan of Lord on this seven hooded serpent king vahanam is seen as a blessing for all devotees and shower of good fortunes, prosperity and good health.

AP CM YS Jagan offers Silk Vastrams to Sri Venkateswara Swami

Tirumala, 30 Sep. 19

  • The CM of Andhra Pradesh Sri  Y S Jaganmohan Reddy offered silk vastrams to Sri Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of State Government, as a part of the official tradition, to make such an offering during the annual Brahmotsavams at Tirumala.
  • Earlier the Chief Minister was adorned with traditional headgear by temple archaka at Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple. From there he carried the silk vastrams in a plate over his head amidst the chanting of Veda mantras with the accompaniment of Nadaswaram and Melam to the main temple.
  • Later he offered silk vastrams to the presiding deity in side temple and offered prayers to Sri Venkateswara Swamy. At Ranganayakula Mandapam he was rendered Vedasirvachanam by temple priests.
  • The CM later offered 80kilos 400grams of rice as Tulabhram and fulfilled his wish and also took part in Peddasesha Vahanam procession.
  • TTD Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy, EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy, CVSO Sri Gopinath Jatti, District Collector Sri Narayana Bharat Gupta, Tirupati Urban SP Sri Anburajan and other officers were also present.

Dhwajarohanam performed with religious fervour

  • The divine flag hoisting fete Dhwajarohanam for ensuing annual brahmotsavams in Tirumala temple was performed in the auspicious Meena Lagnam on Monday evening between 5.23 and 6pm.
  • Sri Sitamachari rendered services as Kankanabhattar for the fete and will be doing all the Vaidika programmes during brahmotsavams in the same capacity.
  • Earlier,  the celestial flag bearing the image of Garudalwar was taken on a procession along the mada streets before the Dhwaja Patam is hoisted on temple Dhwajasthambham in the prescribed Muhurtam.
  • TTD Trust Board Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy,  EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy and others were also present.

Ankurarpanam performed, Senadhipathi Utsavam held

  • The festival of sowing of seeds,  Ankurarpanam was held as a prelude to annual brahmotsavams on Sunday evening.
  • As a part of it, Senadhipathi Utsavam was held where, the Universal Commander in Chief of Lord,  Sri Vishvaksenulavaru was taken on a celestial procession.
  • Later the seed sowing festival was carried out as per the tenets of Vaikhananasa Agama by the priests of the temple.

Thousands of pilgrims took a dip in the Holy Swami Pushkarini

The last and one of the most important events during Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams where in thousands of pilgrims took part for taking bath in the Holy Swami Pushkarini , the Sudarshana Chakrasnana Mahotsavam, was performed with utmost religious fervour on Thursday.

SIGNIFICANCE

The Ayudha Pursha, anthropomorphic form of Lord Venkateswara, was rendered the celestial snapanam to the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy, Sridevi, Bhu Devi and Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar. The deities were seated on the banks of Swamy Pushkarini in the front yard of Sri Bhu Varahaswamy temple.

The celestial snapanam commenced at 6 am. The fete commenced with Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyahavachanam followed by Mukha Prakshalana. Later the snapanam was performed to the deities with milk, honey, coconut water, turmeric paste and sandal paste and the Vedic pundits recited Panchasuktas including Sri, Bhu, Neela, Purusha Suktams.

In the puranas, the Sudarshana Chakra was said to be made by the architect of gods, Vishwakarma. The Sudarshana Chakra is described to have 10 million spikes in two rows moving in opposite directions to give it a serrated edge. The Sudarshna Chakra is described as Prana, Maya, Kriya, Shakti, Bhava, Unmera, Udyama and Sankalpa. Sudarshana manifests in 5 main ways to wit the five Shaktis, which are creation, preservation, destruction, obstruction and obscuration.

It is observed as Upasamanotsavam for the deities, after a hectic eight-day and night Vahanam schedule during annual Brahmotsavams. The anthropomorphic form of Lord, Sri Sudarshana Chakrattalwar, will take a holy dip for three times in the sacred waters of Swamy Pushkarini to appease Him.

Vahana Sevas of Malayappa Swamy Culminates with Aswa Vahanam

On the penultimate day of the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams, Sri Malayappa Swamy who took the form of Kalki Avatar was taken for a celestial ride on Aswa vahanam in the Mada streets on the evening of Wednesday.

Riding the horse car Lord, displayed His stamina for speed and strength and enthralled the pilgrims who had descended on the hill shrine as the festival reaches conclusion.

The ‘Ashwa Vahanam’ procession denotes one of Lords most popular and well received avatars, Kalki – aGood Samaritan who fights evil and protects the righteous and good things in Kaliyuga.

Golden chariot rolls on Tirumala Mada streets

Splendor marked the ‘Rathotsavam’ event on Wednesday, the penultimate day of the nine-day Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala as the ecstatic chanting of ‘Govinda’ ‘Govinda’ by the devotees hit the sky.

After the special rituals such as ‘Punyahavachanam’ and ‘Navagraha dhyanam,’ the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy and his two divine consorts were ceremoniously mounted atop the Ratham amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by the temple pundits.

Tens of thousands of devotees from different parts of the country participated in the divine procession that took place between 7.00 – 9.00 AM.

‘Darbar Krishna’ takes a royal ride in Chandra Prabha Vahanam

On the seventh day evening of the ongoing Navarathri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala, Sri Malayappa decked as “Darbar Krishna” took a royal ride in style on Chandra Prabha Vahanam.

Chanda, always considered as a pleasant astronomical body in the constellation. Chandra is always compared for beauty, pleasantries, purity, calmness.

Wearing a unique head gear, sitting in a majestic manner, Sri Malayappa blessed devotees.

Sun shines all the way for Surya Prabha Vahanam

 

On the seventh day of Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams the Sri Malayappa Swamy took a celestial ride atop the bright Surya Prabha Vahanam on Tuesday morning.

Surya, the Sun God, who is the key architect of life of humans, animals and plants became the Charioteer to drive the Surya Prabha Vahanam for Sri Malayappa Swamy who cheered the devotees as Surya Narayanamurthy.

According to Puranic texts Surya, the Sun God always rode on a chariot driven by seven horses. He spreads light and health in the world and also removes darkness, which symbolizes poverty, illiteracy and ignorance.. Saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharyat praises Venkatewswara as no other than the Sun God in the midst of the Sun’s Sphere.

TN hikes job reservation for Sportspersons

TN CM EPS announced a hike in the job reservation quota for Sports persons in TN Govt jobs from the existing 2% to 3%.

Speaking at an event in Chennai to honour him for his contributions to Sports in the State, the TN CM said, like Education, TN Govt is giving importance to Sports too.

The financial incentive given to Sports persons has also been enhanced in order to motivate them. Indoor Stadiums including the Nehru indoor stadium have been upgraded, he said.

He also said, with the exception of Chennai in 31 districts facilities like playground, sporting equipment and sports training are being provided at the village level.

Farmers’
from all over Tamil Nadu met MNM President Kamal Haasan today.

Addressing them Kamal Haasan said, the time will come when Farmers‘ will thank the MNM for its efforts. Crop insurance for individuals will also become a reality.

Illegal sand mining is the cause for depletion of ground water availability for farming, leading to farmer suicides. These are not suicides it amounts to murder!, he said.

Farmers’ demands do not amount to greed. MNM will take all efforts to ensure that their demands are fulfilled.

The dues to the Sugarcane farmers should be cleared immediately, said Kamal

Gaja Vahanam sways along the Mada Streets with Malayappa Swamy

On the evening of sixth day, Sri Malayappa Swamy, took a majesteic ride on Gaja Vahanam.

The unique feature about this vahanam is that it signifies the most famous episode of Gajendra Moksham where in Lord comes for the rescue of Elephant king when attacked by mammoth crocodile.

It shows that the Lord always comes to the rescue of His devotees when they pray to Him with an attitude of total surrender.

Sri Rama Chandra on Hanumantha Vahanam

On the sixth day morning on Monday, the Lord Malayappa Swamy in the guise of Venkatadri Sri Ramachandra Murthy took celestial ride on His humble and noble devotee Hanumantha Vahana on Monday.

Lord Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, complete surrender and absence of ego. His character tells us what we can do in our lives by becoming pure, humble and surrender outselves to the almighty (saranagati).

With regard to character, strength and ability, Hanuman was far superior to even humans. His surrender to the divine cause and his devotion to Lord Rama was unique, exemplary and unconditional. Even today devotees say that wherever the name of Lord Rama is chanted or mentioned, this sacred being would be present there listening to the chanting of his name and absorbed in his thoughts.

Malayappa mesmerises devotees as ‘Mohini’

On the pleasant morning of Sunday during the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams, Sri Malayappa Swamy as Mohini mesmerised the pilgrims with His unparalleled Beauty and Charm.

The role of Mohini is resplendent with the mythological lore of Samudra Mathanam where Sri Maha Vishnu takes Mohini avatar to share the divine nectar between gods (Devatas) and demons (Asuras) to balance cosmic battle for supremacy. However, the Gods had an upper hand in procuring nectar while he demons were caught in the Maya of Celestial Beauty, Mohini.

While Mohini in all Her resplendent is carried out on an ivory palanquin accompanied by Sri Krishna Swamy on another carrier.

Through this unique Avatar, Lord sends a message to His devotees that they should not fall prey to worldly desires and come out of ‘Maya’ of the luxuries of world.
